Dear Members, It has been eventful around the Sardis-Lone Elm Water Supply territory.  We have installed many new water mains to replace some of our oldest and most out-dated lines and we are currently working to increase our water supplies to meet the needs of our members for many years to come.   Our staff is working diligently to ensure the best possible water supply for all of our members and if the current weather pattern is any indication of the season ahead, we will be facing a long and hot summer.  We would like to encourage all of our members to conserve water and irrigate wisely in order to preserve this precious natural resource and offer the following recommendations:

·Do not water lawns between the hours of 9:00 am and 8:00 pm.  The water will evaporate before it can be absorbed into the ground and is therefore wasted, causing the need for even more watering. ·Do not water lawns during periods of high wind.  A majority of the water will never reach the ground. ·Use soaker hoses near foundations. ·Do not water driveways, sidewalks, and streets. ·Install drought tolerant grasses and plants. ·Do not over-water.  Read your meter prior to your sprinkler system running and then immediately after. Please note that there are a total of 7 numbers used in the meter reading including a "fixed" zero that is painted onto the meter dial.  All 7 numbers must be used for a proper reading.  Subtract the two readings and see exactly how much you are using each time the system is running.   Take your total from your sprinkler system readings and multiply by the total amount of times per month that you water and add in your normal household usage to get the total amount of water that you will probably use for the month.  Then refer to the following rates to calculate your bill.  Reducing the watering times or amount of days per month that the system runs can greatly reduce consumption.
